Where do you work?

I work in a small private studio in Gastown, Vancouver that I share with @soupbasechan.

How do I get a booking from you? When do your books open?

To get a booking you can fill out my submission form here. My books are almost always open and I tend to book ~3 months in advance. If you wish to book a day further out, you will be invited to resubmit a form closer to the desired appointment date!

What events will you be at? When will you be in [My City]?

I travel to many different anime conventions. Stay tuned to my instagram or subscribe to my monthly newsletter here to keep up to date!

How much will my tattoo cost?

I work at an hourly rate of $200, I’m always willing to work within your budget! As long as it’s reasonable. ie. I can’t do a 6 hour tattoo for $200. For those who still want a tattoo from me but have a smaller budget I have repeatable flash designs starting at $130!

For the ones who want to support me for free- likes, follows and shares are always appreciated!

How long does my tattoo take?

For regular black work tattoos I tend to work pretty speedy. For abstract freehand and colours they would take a little longer depending on the design.

Do I need to put down a deposit?

Yes. I require a non-refundable deposit of $100 for all bookings. The deposit covers the pre-tattoo session prep and reserves the appointment time. This goes towards the total cost of your tattoo.

Can I see a draft or sketch of my tattoo?

Unfortunately I do not provide sketches or drafts beforehand.

What is “Abstract Freehand”?

I draw the “stencil” directly on your skin. This way the design flows with your body’s natural contours and complements it. I do a rough sketch followed by free handed tattooing. You can see more examples on my instagram highlights or feed. I always try to post before and afters for you to see how the “stencils” look vs the end result!

I want this design I found on Pinterest. Can you do that?

I do not tattoo other people’s designs. The exception being direct manga/anime screencaps and/or designs where you have the original artist’s permission (proof will be asked).

Ouch this hurts how much longer? Can I use numbing cream? I’m dying, do you have bactine?

I have Vasocaine and Bactine products. Please let me know when you need a break and spray. Be aware that sprays last around 20 minutes depending on the person. We can take breaks and you’re more than welcome to reschedule a separate session to finish up the piece. If using numbing cream, I do require you to buy it yourself from a trusted source and follow the instructions on the package. Let me know if you do choose to use numbing products before the appointment as I seldom start tattooing at the exact time the appointment is slotted for. ie: The tube says to apply it 30 minutes before your tattoo. Apply the cream after you arrive rather than before you get here.

I love my tattoo! A patch healed a bit faded, what is your touch up policy?

First touch ups are always free. After the first session it’s by a case by case basis. If you got the tattoo at a past guest spot you’re always welcome to request a touch up when I’m back in town.

What is your rescheduling/cancellation policy?

With your non-refundable deposit it secures the date and ensures that there is no time wasted in the case of cancellation. Should you need to reschedule please let me know preferably 2 days in advance. If you are sick or unable to make your appointment due to emergency please contact me via email at soozytattoos@gmail.com

What do I do before I get my tattoo?

The night before give yourself a warm bath or shower. Make sure to exfoliate the area you are getting the tattoo on. Exfoliation helps get rid of the layer of dead skin that will clog up my needle and make the ink be more difficult to wipe away. TLDR: Clean skin that is exfoliated will result in a shorter less painful tattoo session that results in a brighter, more solid tattoo heal. Do not drink alcohol within 24 hours of the tattoo appointment. Do not take any blood thinners such as aspirin before your tattoo. Make sure you eat a full nutritious meal before the appointment and stay hydrated. You may bring drinks or snacks to the appointment. Sugars will help with some of the pain management. Wear clothing that is not restrictive and/or gives me access to the area you want tattooed. I do have nipple pasties and most of the time it is only you and me in the studio. Bring layers if it’s sunny outside as the second skin will react with the heat/sun.

What do I do after I get my tattoo? How do I heal it?

If you are healing with second skin leave it on for 1-5 days. It is not recommended to drink within 12 hours of getting the tattoo. Avoid excessive sweating or working out with the second skin on. Removing the second skin after a hot shower with steam will loosen up the adhesive to make the removal process easier. Remove the second skin by pulling gently parallel to the skin instead of away. Wash the area thoroughly with warm water and unscented soap. Pat dry with clean paper towels (no bath towels or toilet paper) or air dry. The tattoo will start to dry up and be a little flakey/scabby in days following. At this point you may apply a thin layer of aftercare or lotion on the tattoo no more than 3 times a day. Repeat until the tattoo is healed. The initial surface heal takes around 2-3 weeks. After that, be cautious with the sun and activities as the full healing can take up to 6 months.
